On behalf of the Salem County Clerk’s office, I wanted to thank ALL of those who had a hand in placing the American flags on each and every grave in our Salem County War Memorial Park and Cemetery on Wednesday, May 19th.
Each and every year, our cemetery is a beautiful sight to see at this time of year and I encourage all to take the time to drive by.
During this special but solemn holiday, it is important to remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice. Without their service to Country, we would not enjoy the freedoms that we often take for granted.
A special thank you to our County Veterans Services Director, Joseph Hannagan, for organizing and to the many organizations and individuals that gave their time to pay homage to our Salem County Veterans.
Although Memorial Day is the ‘unofficial’ start to summer, let us take a moment this weekend to pay tribute for the REAL meaning of this holiday, honoring the men and women who died while serving in our U.S. Military!
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no formal Memorial Day Service this year but undoubtedly residents will want to visit the cemetery to pay their respects. If that is the case, please be sure to exercise caution by maintaining social distancing guidelines as well as any personal protections you feel necessary. Your safety and well being is always our number one priority.
